New Delhi: State leaders are reaching out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to seek central aid for their states. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik met the Prime Minister on Monday.

Patnaik said that the Biju Janata Dal will play a constructive role but won't offer issue-based support to the NDA in the Rajya Sabha. Patnaik also put forth a demand for special status for Odisha and the delay in mineral royalty. He will meet Finance Minister Arun Jaitley later on Monday.

"We will play a constructive role, a positive role as far as the Central government is concerned. We hope that they will be positive towards the demands of Odisha. I've with the MPs, just met the Prime Minister and discussed our long standing demand for special status," Patnaik said after meeting Modi.
