New Delhi: The Narendra Modi government, which aims at wiping out all political appointees from the UPA government, has now asked the heads of National Commission for Women and SC/ST Commission to step down from their respective posts, say sources. This comes after the PMO asked all seven members of the National Disaster Management Authority to put in their papers.
The Modi axe falls on celebrated NCW chief Mamata Sharma and SC/ST panel Chairman PL Punia.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, from Day 1 of assuming office had been quite vocal about his opposition to government officials appointed by the previous UPA government.
Following the new government's decision, governors of five states have also been asked to step down. The ones who have already quit office includes UP and Chhattisgarh governors.
