Ahmedabad: Former Gujarat Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel's party has given a poll ticket to Jagriti Pandya, the wife of slain BJP leader Haren Pandya. She will contesting for Patel's Gujarat Parivartan Party from the Ellis Bridge constituency in Ahmedabad.
The assembly elections are a fortnight away. Haren Pandya was the state home minister and was gunned down in 2003. His family had alleged it was a political assassination and had even gone to the extent of blaming Narendra Modi for it.
The Election Commission had on Wednesday also rejected the Gujarat BJP's plea to disallow Keshubhai's party to contest the assembly elections.
