Puducherry: Days after his removal as the Lt Governor of Puducherry, Virendra Kataria has claimed that he was removed from his post in an unfair manner. He also claimed that he was sacked for ensuring fair and transparent governance.
Kataria has accused Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangaswamy of running a corrupt government, saying that plunder is his government's mantra.
However, refusing to comment on the issue, Rangaswamy said that his government had no role to play in his removal and that the decision was taken by the Centre.
President Pranab Mukherjee had on Friday replaced Kataria and given Andaman and Nicobar Lt Governor Ajay Kumar Singh the additional charge of Puducherry for the interim period.
The removal of Kataria as the L-G comes at a time when the Narendra Modi led government has been replacing the Congress-appointed Governors across the country. Five governors have already resigned in this regard.
The All India NR Congress (AINRC) which has its government in Puducherry, is an alliance in the NDA.
