New Delhi: BJP’s star campaigner Navjot Singh Sidhu – relieved after Supreme Court stayed his conviction – has switched to election mode by filing his </a><a href='http://www.ibnlive.com/news/sidhu-sails-back-to-politics/31939-3.html'>nomination</a> from Amritsar. 
 
In his trademark style - Sidhu did not mince words in dismissing his main opponent, Congress candidate Surindra Singla - claiming he would emerge the winner. 
 
“What's a lamb compared to a lion? It's just his prey. The lion is ultimately the king,” said Sidhu. 
 
Singla on his part remained firm and maintained that he was confident of putting up a tough challenge for Sidhu. 
 
 
“What has he done for Amritsar? He has wasted the mandate of the city. He has not initiated any project. He just talks all the time and anchors TV shows from Bombay and does not even live in Amritsar. Let him explain all this to the people,” he said, adding, “It's going to be a tough fight for him and not for me. I'm giving him a big challenge. Let him face it.” 
 
The Punjab and Haryana High Court had found Sidhu guilty of culpable homicide not amounting to murder for the death of 65-year-old Gurnam Singh in 1988. 
 
But the Supreme Court, while putting a stay on the order, said the FIR was unclear as to who dealt the blow to the victim. 
 
The court also noted that Sidhu resigned from his Lok Sabha seat soon after the conviction.
