New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi is still in hospital after being admitted on Thursday to the Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi for treatment for a lower respiratory tract infection.

Doctors treating her said that she is stable and recovering but she will require further treatment. "She was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital yesterday with lower respiratory tract infection and some breathing difficulty for further treatment and observation. According to the morning health bulletin, her condition is stable and she is recovering," Dr Ajay Swarup said.

The 68-year-old has been battling health problems for a few years now. She underwent surgery for an unknown ailment three years ago.
