Chennai: DMK treasurer and chief M Karunanidhi's son MK Stalin on Sunday withdrew his offer to resign from party posts after party chief intervened. Stalin had offered to resign from all party posts following party's debacle in the Lok Sabha elections.

Party workers were also seen protesting outside Stalin's residence asking him to withdraw his offer.

Party Deputy General Secretary Duraimurugan said Stalin was adviced by his father not to step down at this point. He said, "Karunanidhi adviced Stalin and he has decided not to resign. DMK leaders also requested Stalin to pullback his resignation."

Party secretary VP Duraisamy had refused to comment on the issue. He, however, said that there was pressure on Stalin to quit party posts.

DMK, in its worst performance ever, did not win even a single seat in the 16th Lok Sabha elections when arch rival J Jayalalithaa's AIADMK swept the LS polls by conquering 37 of the 39 seats in Tamil Nadu.
