Vidisha: Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sushma Swaraj will file her nomination from Vidisha on Friday. She is the sitting MP from the constituency.
Sushma Swaraj will face Congress leader Digvijaya Singh's brother Lakshman Singh, who is Congress's candidate from the constituency. Lakshman Singh has said that he will defeat Sushma. Meanwhile, the DM of Raisen in MP has served a notice to Sushma for violating the model code by urging BJP workers to ensure maximum voting by any means.
"So it is a very very tough election for Sushma Swaraj, not because Lakshman Singh is a big leader. I'm not. Because the Congress worker is charged and he wants to defeat the BJP," Lakshman Singh said.
He also added that Digvijaya Singh saying 'Sushma would make a better Prime Ministerial candidate than Modi' was said in jest. "Digvijaya Singh is not asking people to vote for Sushma Swaraj. He's just saying it in a light way. But Digvijaya Singh has also said that Congress party will pose a very tough challenge for her and possibly Congress party will win," Singh said.
Meanwhile, former Congress leader Raj Kumar Patel has filed his nomination as an Independent. Sushma Swaraj won by a huge margin of over 3 lakh votes in 2009.
