New Delhi: Former chief election commissioner SY Quraishi on Monday said that the EC makes sure that the Electronic Voting Machines are 100 per cent tamper-free. Speaking to CNN-IBN on the day the 2014 Lok Sabha elections have begun, Quraishi said that the EC makes sure that the elections are 100 per cent successful.
When asked about the issue of alcohol distribution, Quraishi said that while it is a continuing issue, the EC is keeping a check and taking action against politicians who distribute liquor.
"Voting has to be 100 per cent successful, even 99.9 per cent successful voting is not enough for Election Commission. Voter awareness is because of the EC attempts," Quraishi said.
Last week, there were reports of malfunctioned voting machines in Jorhat is Assam.
