Ranchi: Rashtriya Janata Dal MP Raghuvansh Prasad Singh on Monday termed party's supremo Lalu Prasad conviction in the fodder scam as a big blow to the RJD and said the party will fight till the end. 
 
"The conviction of Lalu Prasad is a big blow to the party. But we are not weakened by it. We will appeal in the higher courts. The people are the ultimate judges of this matter. In many cases the higher court overrules the decision of the lower courts. We will fight till the end," Singh said. 
 
Even Lalu's son Tejaswi Yadav said the party will challenge the conviction in the high court. He said, "It is a political conspiracy to frame him. We will give a tough fight in the coming elections." 
 
Another RJD leader Prabhunath Singh said the party stands by Lalu Prasad and his family and they have full faith in the judicial system. "We have full faith in the judicial system. Laluji is in custody. Our whole family is with Laluji. We are supporting Lalu ji," he said. 
 
Lalu Prasad and 44 others has been convicted by a special Central Bureau of India (CBI) court in Ranchi in one of the cases - RC 20 A/96 - of the multi-crore fodder scam. Lalu has been convicted of corruption, criminal conspiracy and cheating and the sentencing will take place on October 3. The 44 convicts include former Bihar chief minister and Congress leader Jagannath Mishra, six politicians and four Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers.
