In a shocking and unbelievable turn of events, Fernanda Valoz Pinto, a 27-year-old woman from Brazil, passed away after consuming a chocolate gift from a palm reader who had predicted her imminent demise. This mother of one was strolling through the Maceió area in Brazil, known for its abundance of fortune tellers, on August 3, when she was approached by an elderly woman who requested to read her palm.
Following the palm reading, the mysterious woman conveyed to Pinto that she had only a few days left to live, leaving her with a parting gift – chocolate. Initially, everything seemed fine, and Pinto didn’t suspect any harm from the candy. Feeling hungry, she decided to indulge. As her cousin Cristina explained to local media, “As (the candy) was packaged, it didn’t occur to her (that it could pose any danger). And as she was hungry, she decided to eat it.”

However, a few hours after consuming the chocolate, Pinto fell seriously ill, experiencing symptoms such as vomiting and dizziness. In text messages to her family shortly after eating the sweet, she described her deteriorating condition, saying, “My heart is racing. I’ve thrown up. But I have this taste in my mouth – so bitter, bad. My vision is blurry. I’m so weak.”
She went on, “I leaned on the water tank. I almost fell. I almost met God. I don’t know why I’m like this, sis. I’ve been feeling bad all day.” Initially, the family attributed her condition to her pre-existing health issues, including gastritis and an ulcer. However, suspicions arose after Pinto mentioned her encounter with the psychic woman.
In a text message sent before her death, Pinto said, “Because I accepted a chocolate in the city center. I ate it. After that, I felt sick. At the time, it didn’t even cross my mind. She was an old lady.”
Eventually, her condition continued to deteriorate, prompting her cousin to rush her to the Santa Casa de Misericordia hospital. Upon arrival, Pinto began bleeding from her nose, and foam formed in her mouth. Despite the best efforts of doctors, Pinto tragically passed away the following day on August 4.
While the circumstances surrounding her death bewildered her family and the community, a later autopsy report revealed a disturbing revelation. The chocolate had been laced with a high concentration of sulfotep and terbufos, types of pesticides commonly available in Brazil. Notably, these chemicals had not been found in individuals who had died over the past five years, according to a report by the Daily Mail.
